From the beginning of my time in the collector car hobby, Porsche cars have always been a very popular choice. To illustrate this, the second car I owned was a 1968 912 Targa. There are various reasons why Porsches are so popular. First, they have a tremendous racing heritage, with multiple wins and championships in every sports car racing event on the planet, where they have been driven by the world’s most famous drivers. Second, Porsche cars have a very high build quality. Finally, they are incredibly reliable and just always seem to work.

Featured on AutoHunter is this 2005 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 Cabriolet. It is being sold by a private seller in St. Mary’s, Georgia; the auction will end this Thursday.

This 2005 911 is from the end of the 996 generation and has covered approximately 51K miles from new. It is offered by the seller with owner’s manuals, service records, a window sticker, a CARFAX report, and a clear title.

The exterior of this 911 Carrera 4 looks to be in excellent condition. Painted Carrara White, it features a black convertible top, speed-activated rear spoiler, and heated power mirrors. The seller notes that this Porsche Carrera 4 received minor damage to the rear that was repaired and repainted properly in July 2021. The car rides on factory 18-inch five-spoke Carrera alloy wheels clad with 225/40 front and 285/30 Michelin tires.

The interior of this Porsche Carrera 4 has black leather upholstery and optional sport seats that include an additional optional detail I always love to see: the Porsche crest embossed on the headrests. It also features color-matched rear seat covers, a six-speed manual transmission, a factory carbon fiber shift knob, and a matching hand brake lever.

Behind the passenger compartment is the 3.6-liter Porsche flat-six, which generates 315 horsepower at 6,800 rpm and 273 lb-ft of torque at 4,250 rpm. This car also features the optional Porsche stainless steel exhaust system. During the car’s most recent service in July 2024, it received a cooling system inspection, Porsche Level 1 testing and analysis, a radiator hose replacement, a new engine oil pressure sensor/switch, and a cooling system flush and service. One thing to be aware of is that this 911 needs new actuators in order to operate the convertible top. The seller had those looked at and were quoted a cost of $4,500 to fix the problem.

This 2005 911 Carrera 4 is the perfect car for someone who wants to buy a Porsche to drive and enjoy, but who is not afraid to attend to a few small issues. It is a great entry point into the Porsche 911 world and is a car you could easily drive and enjoy on a daily basis.

The auction for this 2005 Porsche Carrera 4 Cabriolet will end Thursday, October 10, 2024 at 11:45 a.m. (PDT).
