The Genesis GV60 that went on sale in the U.S. as an MY2023 product on May 26, 2023, welcomed its MY2024 update in October last year. Recently, the electric crossover has been updated to the 2025 model year with select revisions.
Here are all the details of the new electric SUV, which competes with the likes of the Tesla Model Y, Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron, and the Lexus RZ. The latter part of the story discusses the anticipated changes for MY2026. Some images may not reflect the 2025 model year, and we will replace them when Genesis releases the new images.
Design
The GV60 has a futuristic design that is still fresh, so Genesis did not change it for the 2025 model year. The only addition here is the Capri Blue paint option. The new color is available across the range and costs an additional USD 650.
At the front, the GV60 features the signature Two-Line Quad Lamps with jewel-pattern LEDs, a new Crest Grille that is wider and located at the bottom (instead of between the headlamps), a clamshell hood, and a new wing emblem that is nearly 80% slimmer and features the Guilloché pattern of luxury watches.
The vehicle’s roof steeply slopes into the rear, which is a coupe’s core design attribute. A chrome window trim drops down at the C-pillar to form an edgy ‘V’ shape behind the rear quarter glass. Genesis calls this portion the “Volt DLO.” Seamless and minimal body surfacing without undercuts or character lines lends an understated appearance, in line with the silent yet highly capable zero-emissions powertrain.
The flush door handles operate electrically, automatically popping out on approaching the car. The charging port is above the right wheel arch, and it has a semi-circular, dot-pattern LED indicator to show the charging status. 19-, 20-, and 21-inch are the alloy wheel sizes available.
At the rear, the shape of the tailgate is reminiscent of the Volvo C40, but the design is original. The roofline melts into the curvy tailgate, which sports a black spoiler at the end of the windscreen. The black inside portion of the V shape on the C-pillar flows out to meet the rear spoiler. The taillights split into four segments in a signature style, but they become squinted towards the inside, unlike other Genesis models.
Color options
Genesis offers the GV60 EV in a total of 8 colors in the U.S.:
- Uyuni White
- Hanauma Mint
- Mauna Red
- Saville Silver
- Alta White
- Makalu Gray
- Vik Black
- Capri Blue
Interior
Similar to the exterior, the interior of the 2025 Genesis GV60 does not feature significant changes. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility and Genesis Connected Services are the only upgrades inside the 2025 model. The interior continues in Obsidian Black and Ash Gray/Glacier White colors.
The Genesis GV60 follows the latest design trend of minimalist vibes. The dashboard, center console, and instrument panel have a low-profile look typical of new-generation electric cars. A circular theme is visible on several parts, such as the visibly compact two-spoke steering wheel with scrollers for various functions, the horn cover, door handles, electronic gear selector, and side mirror adjuster.
Crystal sphere
The Genesis GV60 features the “Crystal Sphere” electronic gear selector, inspired by the Genesis X Concept and the traditional Korean philosophy of ‘Beauty of White Space.’ When the vehicle’s electrical systems are off, the Crystal Sphere emits a glow, and upon starting, it rotates 180˚ to reveal a metal-finish shift-by-wire controller. In addition to the visual appeal, the Crystal Sphere functions as a safety feature by indicating whether the vehicle is on and providing haptic feedback when a gear is engaged.
AVN & comfort
Virtual instrument cluster, compact touchscreen climate control panel, floating widescreen infotainment system, and slim horizontal air vents are some of the other interior highlights of the GV60. Lastly, the driver and passengers can relax by playing one of the EV’s four mood sounds, Relax, Energetic, Bright, and Warm, on the 17-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system with Hi-Res audio output.
The interior is a notch above the Ioniq 5 and the Kia EV6, featuring higher quality and more sophisticated-looking upholstery, additional comfort and convenience features like massage seats and a rear-seat entertainment system, and a rich color-coding. Genesis designers should build further on this differentiation in the future model years.
Sustainable & eco-friendly
Soft-touch fabrics and high-quality dashboard trim set the opulence luxury car customers usually expect. Genesis makes many of the GV60’s interior materials using eco-friendly and recycled items. For example, it has used plant-based leather on the seats, door armrests, and crash pads. Another example is the usage of fabrics made with yarns extracted from recycled PET bottles and fishnets for the EV’s seat covers and door center trims.
Fingerprint recognition
As customers have experienced in the GV70 and Electrified GV70, the Genesis GV60 has a fingerprint reader. The driver can enter the vehicle using face recognition and turn it on using a fingerprint reader. Biometric authentication allows for convenient payments from inside the vehicle and the release of Valet mode as well.
Digital Key 2
The GV60 is the first Genesis model to have Digital Key 2 capability, an upgraded version of the brand’s Digital Key. With Digital Key 2, the driver has to simply touch the door handle to unlock the vehicle; there’s no need to take out the smartphone. Digital Key 2 uses ultra-wideband wireless communication to detect the key. As in the case of the original version, the owner can share the vehicle’s digital key with up to three people.
Digital Key 2 is compatible with Apple iPhone, Apple Watch, and Samsung smartphones.
Specifications
The Genesis GV60 EV sits on the same platform as all the Ioniq 5 and the EV6 – Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). A 77.4 kWh battery pack is standard like in the outgoing model. Customers can choose from three power-electric configurations.
The base configuration uses only a rear motor, which produces 168 kW (225 hp) and 258 lb.-ft. of torque. It delivers an EPA-est. range of 294 miles.
The middle configuration adds a front motor, changing the drivetrain layout to AWD and increasing the power and torque figures to 234 kW (314 hp) and 446 lb.-ft., respectively. It can travel up to 264 miles on a full charge, as per EPA.
The top-end configuration uses a punchier front motor, further increasing the power and torque to 320 kW (429 hp) and 516 lb.-ft., respectively. An exclusive Boost Mode can bump the power to 360 kW (483 hp) for 10 seconds. Obviously, the EPA-est. range takes a toll, dropping to just 235 miles.
Drift Mode & e-ASD
Genesis has equipped the GV60 with a Drift Mode, for drivers who have fun going sideways. This mode tweaks the driving power and braking system. An electronic-Limited Slip Differential (e-LSD) that allows optimal distribution of the torque between the left and rear wheels is part of the equipment.
To make the GV60 exciting during spirited driving, Genesis has equipped it with the electric-Active Sound Design (e-ASD) which produces virtual driving sounds based on the driving mode, speed, and accelerator pedal data. There are three sound options: Futuristic, G-Engine, and E-Motor. When driving in a relaxed manner, the driver and occupants can travel more comfortably benefitting from ‘Active Noise Control – Road’ noise-cancellation technology.
Charging & V2L
It’s possible to charge using 400-volt and 800-volt charging systems. Using 800-volt, it’s possible to achieve a peak charging rate of 350 kW. Charging from 10 to 80% SoC at 350 kW takes only 18 minutes. Normal charging with alternating current is possible at up to 11 kW. U.S. customers get three years of 30-minute complimentary charging sessions free with their GV60 purchase.
A V2L function allows supplying up to 1.9 kW of power to external electronic devices. V2L enables using the battery pack’s electricity to run home appliances and other high-power equipment, which can prove useful during outdoor activities in remote places and power cuts. Moreover, bidirectional charging allows rescuing another EV stuck due to a depleted battery.

As of August 6, 2024, there are 56 Genesis dealerships in the U.S. Claudia Marquez, COO, Genesis Motor North America, has said that the company plans to grow its upcoming exclusive dealership network to 150 outlets by 2025, as per a report from Automotive News.
Big changes on the cards for the 2026 Genesis GV60
The Genesis GV60 debuted in August 2021 and took a while to roll out globally, but preparations for its facelift have already begun, ET News said in a report on May 23, 2023. That comes as no surprise, since product planners, designers, and engineers have to be well ahead of the market. Prototypes of the new model are already undergoing testing on the public roads.
Design
In February 2024, Genesis may have inadvertently revealed the facelifted GV60 in a YouTube video announcing Jack Ickx as the brand’s new ambassador. Although the company has since switched the video to private, a snapshot captured by Instagram user shorts_car shows the updated model with a more assertive front fascia.
The new Genesis GV60 has a fresh bumper with vertical air inlets and inverted L-shaped black surrounds in the corners. The wide air intake grille sports a more angular design, with a straightened bottom portion. Right above that grille, the closed panel in the nose section features a slim capsule-shaped cutout, which could house the front camera or other sensing equipment.
Interior & Specifications
Inside, spy shots have revealed that the facelifted GV60 will feature a new steering wheel and a new, 27-inch OLED display sourced from LG Display. The new ultrawide screen will integrate the instrument cluster and infotainment system into a single horizontal unit. The new steering wheel has been spotted with orange stitches and an orange boost button, although these features could be exclusive to a new high-performance variant ‘Magma.’ The GV60 Magma will likely sport two motors producing at least 650 horsepower and should hit 0 to 60 mph in less than 3.5 seconds.
Release Date
The report states that series production of the facelifted GV60 in South Korea will commence in February 2025. Thus, the global debut of the updated SUV should take place in early 2025. According to a report from Korean Car Blog published on August 20, 2024, 20,000 units of the new GV60 will be manufactured annually. The first-ever GV60 Magma could enter production in Q3 2025 and arrive in the U.S. in Q4 2025.
It’s safe to assume South Korea will be the first market to receive the new Genesis GV60. The U.S. launch is likely to take place for the 2026 model year in the middle of 2025.
TopElectricSUV says
The Genesis GV60 offers a distinctive style, plenty of innovative technologies, rapid charging, impressive performance, and high levels of comfort. While it’s not as capable as the Tesla Model Y in the range aspect, it’s a great overall package, especially at the attractive prices at which it is available. It’s one of the best choices in the segment for customers prioritizing luxury and comfort above range. The MY2025 update makes it an even more recommendable purchase.
