The Paris Motor Show 2024 (Mondial de l’Auto 2024) opens for the media next Monday (Oct 14, 2024), and I’m very excited to be attending the event where about 30 auto brands will have their latest models and concept vehicles on display.
In this piece, I’ll list out the models of interest, and those which are relevant to the American audience. Note that while most of the vehicles shown here have been confirmed by their respective manufacturers, there are some which make up our guesses.
Alfa Romeo
Tonale update: Stellantis has confirmed the preview of the 2025 model year Tonale at the French exhibition. Details are awaited, but the brand promises “new features,” which should include updates to the PHEV system.
Alpine
A390 Beta Concept: Alpine is heading to the U.S. in 2027, with its initial launches expected as a midsize electric crossover and a large electric SUV. In Paris, the company will showcase A390 Beta Concept, a coupe-style SUV, Alpine’s second bespoke model after the A110 sports coupe. It’s expected to rival the Porsche Macan EV.
A290 hot hatchback: Based on the Renault 5, this is a sporty electric hatchback showcasing Alpine’s electric ambitions.
Alpenglow Hydrogen Concept: A hydrogen-powered sports-racing concept with potential for future production by 2028. This iteration features a V6 hydrogen engine.
Audi
Q6 e-tron Sportback: The coupe-styled midsize SUV, based on VW Group’s Premium Platform Electric architecture, is also expected to reach the U.S. next year.
Q6 e-tron SUV: Audi’s first model on the Premium Platform Electric, which debuted earlier this year, will compete with the Tesla Model Y stateside.
New Q5: Audi’s best-selling midsize SUV, featuring generational changes, will make its first auto show appearance in Paris. The electrified model will also be produced in North America, and a significant launch for the U.S. operations for MY2026.
A6 e-tron: Audi’s premium electric sedan, set to rival luxury EVs including the BMW i5 and the Mercedes EQE, is a significant model for the U.S. operations.
BYD
Sealion 7: The Tesla Model Y competitor, which can charge from 10 to 80% in 25 minutes, features LFP battery and ‘cell-to-body’ integration. It makes its European debut in Paris.
Yangwang U8: The bonkers premium full-size electric SUV marks BYD’s aggressive expansion into Europe.
Cadillac
Lyriq: Cadillac’s pure-electric SUV, which has clocked decent numbers over the last couple of years in the U.S., prepares for its European foray.
Citroën
C3 Aircross Electric: The compact SUV comes in both electric and combustion-engine versions, offering a rare seven-seat option in its category.
New e-C4 & e-C4-X: The usual mid-cycle update will lend Citroen’s hatch and crossover with a cleaner design, Oli-inspired styling, and updated interior.
“Expressive” Concept: Details are limited, but this concept previews Citroen’s future design language, and is a precursor to a future launch, which could be the new C5 Aircross.
Ami update: Citroen’s quadricycle is expected to be showcased in an updated avatar, sporting exterior and technical changes.
Dacia
Bigster: A longer, more tour-friendly version of the Duster, with two optional hybrid powertrains.
Ford
Capri: While not U.S.-bound, Ford’s icon has been revived as an electric coupe-style crossover, riding on Volkswagen’s MEB architecture. The new Capri offers a range of up to 627 km (374 miles), 340 PS from a dual-motor system, and a 0-100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration in 5.3 seconds
Kia
EV3: The U.S.-bound subcompact electric SUV (headed to the U.S. next year) is expected to be priced from under $35,000.
Leapmotor
B10: The C-segment SUV is making its global debut in Paris. Based on the new B-platform, it is designed to cater to Europe’s core market with high-tech features.
T03 & C10: Leapmotor’s other exhibits include a compact urban EV (T03) and a family-oriented D-segment electric SUV (C10).
Mini
Aceman: Mini’s first exclusively-electric model is a subcompact crossover positioned between the Cooper and Countryman. While confirmation is awaited, it seems likely that the British-built Aceman will reach the U.S. in 2026.
John Cooper Works: Mini’s performance outfit is expected to exhibit its version of the Aceman to the French exhibition.
Mobilize
Bento & Duo: Renault’s mobility brand will display two models, Bento and Duo, targeting fleet operators. The former is a cargo van, and the latter is a two-seat quadricycle, which is the successor to the Renault Twizy.
Peugeot
E-408: The new fully-electric fastback comes with a 58.2 kWh battery and 282-mile range.
E-3008 & E-5008 Long Range versions: European electric SUVs with extended range (700 km/435 miles for the E-3008 and 415 miles/668 km for the E-5008), leading their segments in distance.
Renault
4 E-Tech: The retro-styled, all-electric small crossover inspired by the iconic Renault 4. Will compete with the Jeep Avenger and Peugeot e-2008 starting in 2025.
Twingo E-Tech: A prototype of Renault’s future small EV with a familiar name, priced below €20,000, going on sale in 2026.
Embleme Concept: A crossover with hydrogen-assisted fuel cell technology, offering ultra-low emissions and up to 1,000 km (621 miles) range.
R17 Electric Restomod: A modern take on the classic Renault 17 coupe, featuring electric power and retro styling.
Estafette Concept: A retro-futuristic electric van designed for urban mobility and the logistics sector.
Skoda
Elroq: The compact electric SUV positioned below the Enyaq, offers up to 560 km (348 miles) of range, and is built on VW’s MEB platform.
Skywell/Skyworth
The Chinese brand is expected to conduct the world premiere of a C-Segment hatchback.
Tesla
Cybertruck: Tesla’s wild electric truck is making its European debut in Paris. It will be displayed along with Tesla’s entire lineup, including the Model 3, Model Y, Model X, and Model S.
Volkswagen
Tayron (previews the New Tiguan for the U.S.): This seven-seat SUV is set to replace the Tiguan Allspace in Europe. While it provides a glimpse of the next-generation Tiguan for the U.S. market, the American version will have a longer wheelbase. The exterior design, powertrain options, and equipment will also differ from the European model.
ID GTI Concept: The sporty electric hot hatchback, following the legacy of VW’s iconic GTI lineup, previews the go-faster variant of the upcoming VW ID.2.
