The 2025 Subaru Solterra is coming to U.S. dealerships in Spring 2025. The new model packs some significant upgrades and has notably different prices compared to the outgoing model, which we got to review in early 2024. Here are the five things you can look forward to in the 2025 Solterra:
Big price cuts
Subaru has slashed the prices of the Solterra by up to a whopping USD 7,000 with the MY2025 update, making it more affordable. Now, the prices start at USD 38,495 and go up to USD 45,495. The destination & delivery charge has gone up by USD 75 and now stands at USD 1,420 (USD 1,570 in Alaska).
Trim | 2024 Subaru Solterra Price | 2025 Subaru Solterra Price | Price Cut |
Premium | USD 44,995 | USD 38,495 | USD 6,500 |
Limited | USD 48,495 | USD 41,995 | USD 6,500 |
Touring | USD 51,995 | USD 44,995 | USD 7,000 |
Onyx Edition | NA | USD 45,495 | NA |
Onyx Edition
The 2025 Subaru Solterra will be available in a new Onyx Edition trim, based on the range-topping Touring grade. The Onyx Edition will offer a sportier styling with a high gloss black front underguard, 20-inch gloss black wheels, black roof pillars, shoulder line trim, door frame, rear quarter glass, and roof spoiler, and black badging.
Another exclusive on the outside will be dual-tone color options. Black StarTex trimmed upholstery and black trim accents on the doors will continue the dark theme inside.
Best-in-class ground clearance
The 2025 Solterra might not be the most rugged electric SUV on the market, but at least in its segment, it’s the most capable vehicle off the tarmac. As in the outgoing model, it boasts a best-in-class ground clearance of 8.3 inches, allowing you to pursue your favorite adventures that involve light off-roading, like camping, for instance. As before, Subaru equips it with Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud drive modes with Grip Control and Downhill Assist Control for more grip and better control.
Better value than the Toyota bZ4X
Subaru said the Solterra offers better value for money than Toyota’s bZ4X before rolling out the MY2025 update. Following the big price cuts, the Solterra is a more attractive alternative to the bZ4X. Subaru equips even the most basic configuration with premium features like 18-inch alloy wheels, heated ORVMs and front seats, a 7.0-inch driver information display, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and a dual-zone automatic climate control system as standard.
Additional features like LED fog lights, power tailgate, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, digital IRVM with Homelink and camera washer, and heated steering wheel and rear seats are available higher up the range.
Subaru Just Drive Rental
The Subaru Solterra’s 227-mile maximum range is admittedly low for faraway destinations, particularly places where charging infrastructure is limited. However, for those occasional long journeys, you can rent any gas-powered Subaru you like at no cost for up to ten days through the Subaru Just Drive Rental program.
