A rather surprising set of TikTok videos from a mechanic show Air Force Ford Super Duty emissions equipment deleted.
The Ford Super Duty diesel trucks come with emissions equipment from the factory to pass Environmental Protection Agency emissions regulations phased in around 10 years ago.
EPA emissions-related equipment for diesels is a hot topic among enthusiasts who see it as a way to make diesel engines less reliable, produce less power, and have worse fuel economy. The practice of “deleting” emissions equipment has been popular among these enthusiasts, forcing the EPA to step in to fine shops doing the deletion.
Now one division of the Air Force seems to have deleted their Ford Super Duty diesels as well.
Two videos taken by TikTok user Saul Mayorga show a pair of Ford Super Duty trucks equipped with turbocharged 6.7-liter V-8 Power Stroke diesel engines. These trucks were in for other maintenance items and Mayorga showed what appears to be a factory plate deleting the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system blocked off. Also, a quick look under the truck reveals no diesel particulate filter (DPF).
The truck was in the shop to have a leaky oil pan replaced so the truck could be put on a cargo plane.
Needless to say, this video grabbed a lot of attention from the diesel enthusiast crowd who are crying foul at the Air Force being allowed to have a deleted diesel, yet they can not order one that way from the factory for them.
@mayorga._saul 6.7 powerstrokes and their leaky oil pans. But isnt it crazy how their vehicles have no emissions… Maybe due to the unreliability of them but yet all regular civilian pickups are forced to have them? #67powerstroke #deletedpowerstroke #diesel #mechanic #alumaduty #dieseltech
