Featured on AutoHunter is this 1970 Plymouth AAR ‘Cuda. This ‘Cuda was an homologation special for Plymouth’s entry in the Trans-Am circuit. It is powered by a 340 Six-Barrel backed by a four-speed manual transmission. Other features include front and rear spoilers, center console, Rally gauges, Sure-Grip differential, rear louvers, and more. Painted Lemon Twist with a black vinyl top and matching interior, this Mopar pony car comes from the selling dealer with the broadcast sheet, reproduction window sticker, maintenance records, parts receipts, Chrysler Registry documentation, extra 3.91 gear set, and clear title.
Originally sold in Canada, this ‘Cuda was built in “FY1” Lemon Twist with a “V1X” black vinyl top. The longitudinal strobe stripes, ducktail rear spoiler, and fiberglass hood were part of the AAR package, named after Dan Gurney’s All-American Racers team. Other features include rear window louvers, hood pins, left- and right-side painted racing mirrors, driving lights, and front chin spoilers.
A set of 15-inch Rallye wheels are wrapped in E60-15 Goodyear Polyglas GT tires up front, G60-15s out back. The AAR ‘Cuda was unique in this way.
The black vinyl interior features front bucket seats and a center console, with a Hurst Pistol Grip shifter residing within. Other features include three-spoke steering wheel, fast-ratio power steering, remote control driver’s side mirror, and AM/FM radio.
As this vehicle has the Rally Cluster, instrumentation includes a 150-mph speedometer, 8,000-rpm tachometer, and gauges for the oil pressure, coolant temperature, alternator, and fuel, plus a clock with quartz movement added. The odometer shows 84,387, though the true mileage is unknown.
The 290-horsepower 340 features three two-barrel carburetors and is backed by a four-speed manual transmission. Though not the original block, it is a true “TA” casting. A rubber gasket around the air cleaner routs cold air from the hood to the carbs.
The undercarriage features a torsion bar independent front suspension and rear solid axle with 3.55 gears and Sure-Grip. Front disc and rear drum brakes are power-assisted. The dual exhaust system exits ahead of the rear wheels.
The auction for this Canadian-market 1970 Plymouth AAR ‘Cuda will end Thursday, November 14, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. (MST)
