Boreham Motorworks signs agreement with Ford to produce continuation and ‘remastered’ versions of its classic models

Boreham Motorworks, a division of the DRVN Automotive Group that also includes Alan Mann Racing and the UK’s only Koenigsegg dealership, has announced plans to build both ‘remastered’ and ‘blueprint accurate’ continuation version of the Ford RS200 and Escort Mk1.

The firm has signed a licence agreement with Ford for the privilege and is set to begin with the RS200 as the iconic model celebrates its 40th anniversary. The car will be “an entirely new, ground-up build of a road-legal Group B-inspired drivers’ car”, entering the burgeoning high-end restomod market to challenge similar offerings from the likes of Alfaholics, MST and TWR.

Boreham Motorworks’ second effort will be the ‘blueprint-accurate, period-sympathetic’ Ford Escort Mk1. These models will get continuation VINs and set the tone for Boreham’s plans to revive ‘at least five’ more classic Ford models in due course, all in ‘very limited numbers’.

“We are thrilled to embark on this journey with Ford Motor Company and kickstart a series that will redefine and remaster these icons of the past,” said Darren McDermott, executive chairman at DRVN Automotive Group. “We aim to redefine automotive innovation and push the boundaries in terms of driver engagement and design.”

It is not yet clear where these new models will be produced, and it’s not clear if DRVN’s own Alan Mann Racing will lend its expertise to the project. In any case, Ford’s official blessing helps set the project apart from some of its competitors.

“From the first time we met with Boreham Motorworks and the DRVN team, it was clear that they had an exciting vision for how to bring some of our most iconic historical nameplates to life for the modern era”, commented Will Ford, General Manager, Ford Performance Motorsports. “It will be exciting to see this relationship flourish and to see how Boreham Motorworks brings the vision to life at a time when there is so much passion from enthusiasts for great experiences.”
