G & B Motors is the newest permanent addition to the Iola Car Show grounds. G&B Motors is an indoor display of late-1950s to early-1960s Chrysler Corp. vehicles and is located on the north side of the car show building.
G & B Motors is the work of George Collar and Bob Brown, who are the source of the name and the impressive cars inside.
“I would say what we were trying to do was we’d like to let people have a feeling of what a car dealership from 60 years ago was like. Walk in, get a general idea of what it was like,” said Bob Brown.
“The idea was if you got a bus load of kids, or a group, they can come visit. “I’ve had interest in clubs doing tours or having meetings.”
The Dodges, De Sotos, Chryslers and Plymouths inside G & B Motors are either owned by the duo, or have been invited to display their cars in the display space by them.
“We will probably swap cars in and out,” Brown said. “You may go in and there are 10 cars and you might go in again and there’s 13.” Besides the dozen or so vehicles inside the display, there is a significant amount of original Chrysler Corp. signage and other artifacts from the company’s Forward Look period.“We’ll probably have more signage for next year,” Brown added.
G & B Motors will be open during the 2025 Iola Car Show, and it can also be visited year-round by appointment. Contact the Iola Car Show at 715-445-4000 to learn more.
