The German Car Festival returned in style last weekend, packing out Goodwood with the very best classic and modern German machines

On the weekend of 5/6 October, Goodwood Motor Circuit played host to German Car Festival (GCF), which moved to Sussex following a successful launch at Silverstone last year.

Accommodating some 850 cars from all German manufacturers. GCF prides itself on welcoming cars from all eras; icons like a BMW E34 M5, NSU Prinz, Mercedes R107 SL and rare 220SE mixed in happily with a raft of modern Golf Rs and Audi RS3s.

As well as clubs and special display areas, our colleagues at Fast Car had hand-picked standout cars for display, including a Cosworth-bodykitted Mercedes 190E with a 400bhp SLK powerplant, Skyline-powered BMW E30 and VIP-spec Mercedes C-Class.

Typically for a Kelsey show, the Street Elite show and shine competition awarded prizes to the best-presented cars on display, with retro and classic models well represented by the winning BMW E36 Touring and runner-up Porsche 944 S2 and BMW 840.

Club awards were also handed out, with the winners as follows following much deliberation from the assembled judges:

  • Best Large Club Stand: Audi Quattro Owners UK
  • Best Small Club Stand: Mk5 Society
  • Best Regional Club: Berkshire Dubbers
  • Club Hero Award: Charlie Windwood – C63 South East Owners Club
  • Club Spirit Award: Team AMG UK
  • Most Varied Club Stand: Invite Only Run Club
  • Heritage Award: Mk1 Golf Owners Club
  • Best Presented Club: Audi TT Owners Club
  • Best Club Car: Audi S3

The opportunity to drive the historic Goodwood circuit was also enjoyed by show-goers, the track action broken up with two professional drifting displays during the day, while simulators offered public the chance to compete for the fastest time around Goodwood and win prizes from sponsor, Tillett.

The German Car Festival will return in 2025; stay tuned to the Fast Car Entertainment website for details as they come.
