Two student docents from the Maine Classic Car Museum are taking part in the 2024 Great Race as part of the X-Cup Challenge. Click here for part twelve, crossing the finish line!

Max and Cotton wrapped up the Great Race 2024 by hosting an after-party to celebrate the student X-Cup division at the Maine Classic Car Museum.

After an exhilarating but exhausting race, we were grateful to so many Great Racers who came to honor the student teams. Max and Cotton presented several Certificates of Appreciation, including to Museum founders, Miles and Gene Prentice, and Motorland Service Center’s Dave and Bob, for their dedication and support getting the car ready for the rally. We also recognized our Great Race mentors, Susan Nourse and Peter Brown, Bram Starr, our Museum volunteer and co-driver with Tim Stentiford, Alfred State University for their Team Spirit Award, and of course Nick Ellis and the RPM Foundation.

We also welcomed a veteran Great Racer to our Museum, Scott Thams from the board of the Ford Piquette Avenue Plant Museum, a nonprofit organization in Detroit. The museum is dedicated to the preservation of the birthplace of the Model T.

There was one final surprise for us. After watching this bright orange speedster race all week, we were so excited to learn that our museum founder, Miles Prentice, made a deal to acquire this race car and add it to our collection. We hope to rally with it soon. Stay tuned and thank you for following our journey!
