After years of big changes, the new 2025 truck changes and 2026 truck debuts list is filled with refreshes and new EV trucks.

Most brands will focus on launching new trucks that will fill out their lineup of electric vehicle offerings while a new 2026 Chevy Silverado 1500, 2026 GMC Sierra 1500 and a 2026 Toyota Tundra could debut. Also, Ram will launch a new 2025 Ram HD truck along with a new Cummins diesel engine and the Ram 1500 Ramcharger.

2025 truck changes and 2026 truck debuts

Here’s a brand-by-brand look at what has been announced and what you can expect for new truck debuts.

Chevy trucks

In 2025 Chevy trucks will see more versions of the Silverado EV and likely small changes to the rest of their lineup.

The 2025 Chevy Colorado, for example, saw price jumps and changes to the ZR2 trim level with more optional equipment.

On the full-size truck side, the 2025 Chevy Silverado 1500 gets these changes:

  • Exterior Colors
    • New Cypress Gray
    • New Riptide Blue
  • Other
    • Newly available 20-inch High Gloss Black wheels
    • Cruise Control standard on Work Truck trim
    • Trailer Brake Controller standard on LT trim and above
    • Premium Audio standard on ZR2
    • Front and Rear Park Assist standard on ZR2

For the 2025 Silverado HD trucks, they get a similar list of changes like the 1500 trucks received.

On the Silverado EV 1500, Chevy will launch the Trail Boss version of the truck with more ground clearance, larger tires and a more aggressive look.

2026 Chevy truck debuts

What about debuts? Looking at the typical 7-year product cycle where automakers launch a new version every 7 years and do a refresh every 3-4 years, it is likely we will see some changes to the 2026 Silverado 1500.

The current generation of the Silverado 1500 was launched in 2019 and got refreshed for the 2023 model year. Doing the math, it seems like the 2026 Silverado 1500 will be the next generation of the full-size truck.

For the midsize Colorado, it was launched in 2023, so nothing to expect there.

On the HD side, the latest generation was redone for the 2024 model year and you can only expect small changes for the 2026 model year like more standard features and new colors.

Ford trucks

With a recently refreshed lineup, 2025 Ford truck changes will be light.

First, the 2025 Ford Maverick Lobo was launched last Fall, along with other minor changes to the compact truck, and will be on sale in the Spring. This adds a street truck version of the popular compact truck.

Next, the Ford Ranger, which I just bought for this outlet as a long-term review truck, sees no real changes except for price changes.

The 2025 Ford F-150 saw price changes throughout the lineup with no large changes to the lineup.

Finally, the 2025 Ford Super Duty lineup was redone with a new Platinum Plus trim and a lot of new technology.

2026 Ford truck debuts

What then will Ford launch this year for the 2026 model year? Maybe or maybe not a lot. Unlike other competitors, Ford has seemingly thrown the 7-year cycle out the window and likes to do updates at a much faster rate. However, these updates aren’t as major with completely new designs.

GMC trucks

GM’s premium truck brand, the 2025 GMC truck lineup will follow along with what Chevy will unveil.

This means, don’t expect many changes for the 2025 GMC Canyon, 2025 GMC Sierra 1500 or the 2025 GMC Sierra HD trucks except for price changes, new standard equipment and a few new colors.

2026 GMC Sierra debuts

The big news we know today will be on the electric side with the Sierra EV launching new lower trim levels.

Also, if the Chevy Silverado 1500 gets redone, expect a similar change coming for a 2026 GMC Sierra 1500.

Toyota trucks

The past year has seen the new 2024 Toyota Tacoma hitting dealer lots with a completely new cabin, new engines and new trim levels. And the 2025 Tacoma sees some minor changes following up on this all-new model.

While on the full-size truck side, the 2025 Toyota Tundra saw changes in terms of pricing, massaging seats in higher trims, a new TRD trim, new Mudbath exterior changes and a variety of other changes.

2026 Toyota truck debuts

What does this mean for new 2026 Toyota truck debuts? For starters, don’t expect anything except small changes for the 2026 Toyota Tacoma.

With the 2026 Toyota Tundra, this could be the year for a refresh like I speculated on this popular YouTube video after talking with Toyota engineers. The current generation debuted in 2022 and has seen a lot of new revolving around a major engine recall and a variety of issues reported by many owners like cracked seat trim, wind noise, etc… There is also the concern over the lack of tow hooks especially on the Tundra TRD PRO trim. Toyota recently came out with a way to add tow hooks on its models from the dealer.

If I was a betting man, I would wager 2026 is the year we will see changes.

Stellantis

If there was one thing that stood out in 2024 for me, it was the never-ending news coming from Stellantis. From CEO Tavares unexpectedly resigning (or being fired depending on your view), the return of Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis and the UAW and dealers calling the brand out for missteps. It has been fun to report on all this news!

Looking at the brand, they have both the Jeep Gladiator midsize truck and then the Ram brand lineup of trucks.

2025 Jeep Gladiator

For the 2025 Jeep Gladiator, the long awaited 4xe version should be on dealer lots sometime this year.

Other changes include:

  • Exclusively equipped with standard eight-speed automatic transmission
  • Standard power lock and power windows
  • New Fathom Blue and military olive drab-inspired ’41 exterior paint color
  • Active Cabin Ventilation (available) allows customers to pre-condition their vehicle’s cabin, evacuating hot air in warmer weather, via the Jeep Connect mobile app before entering the vehicle

I would not expect many changes for the 2026 model year with the turnover happening at the brand and the sluggish sales of the current generation. The Jeep Gladiator always seems to be one model year away from being discontinued and with a new Ram midsize truck on the horizon, its future is cloudy.

2025 Ram trucks

Before we get into what to expect, let’s take a step back after a frantic year.

First, the 2025 Ram 1500 has been redesigned with the key items being the 3.0-liter inline 6 twin-turbo Hurricane lineup with two different tunes, replacing the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 lineup.

There is a lot of speculation on the future of the HEMI V8 engine especially with the 2025 Dodge Durango keeping the engine around for another model year.

Many see Ram CEO Kuniskis return as the guy to bring the HEMI V8 back into the lineup.

Could that happen? Sure.

It could also easily not happen, especially if you consider, like myself, Kuniskis has a 2025 Ram 1500 RHO on order with the Hurricane engine.

Finally, many think Ram will lose so many sales, it will force them to bring back the HEMI V8. Kuniskis pointed out the sales drop is really a by-product of a delay in production and shipping the 2025 Ram 1500 to dealer lots. He said, point blank, they are way behind in production which is why sales are down.

One other thing to note is the 5.7-liter V8 Toyota Tundra was dead for the 2022 model year and the new truck is seeing its best sales since it was launched as a full-size truck in 2007. That’s with a 3.4-liter V6 twin turbo engine and not a V8.

2025 Ram HD and Ramcharger debuts

For new Ram trucks, you can expect details on the 2025 Ram HD lineup with a new Cummins diesel engine debuting in early 2025.

You can also expect to see the 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger to debut in the first half of the year and hitting dealer lots by the end of the year. Ram recently announced it will push this EREV (extended-range electric vehicle) debut before the Ram REV fully-electric truck.

Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis is very excited about the Ramcharger as the sweet spot for many customers offering an electric driving experience around town while not sacrificing long-distance towing.

Other 2026 midsize truck news

What about the 2026 Nissan Frontier, 2026 Honda Ridgeline models?

For starters, the 2025 Nissan Frontier saw a minor refresh with mostly design changes. The 2025 Honda Ridgeline hasn’t had any official changes announced.

With those brands announcing a merger, any big redesign plans are likely being put on hold until things get sorted out.

The merger should result in a new company name and HQ in 2026 and new products by 2030 according to the latest news.

There is the possibility of a hybrid Nissan Frontier and Ridgeline per the Honda CEO’s comments on future products from the merger.

This would seemingly combine Honda’s knowledge of a hybrid system with Nissan’s experience with body-on-frame engineering.

Now this makes sense, however, don’t get too excited for this kind of truck just yet. It is likely years away.

The bottom line

There’s a host of political factors like tariffs, interest rates and supply chain disruptions that could have a big impact on the 2025 truck market. It should be fun watching those items play out.
