A new Mercedes-Benz recall details 33,456 cars from 2001 to 2011.

Mercedes-Benz issued a recall for nearly 33,500 of the brand’s vehicles. The recall affects 10 model years from 2001 to 2011. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recall pertains to “incorrectly applied adhesive” to the glass panel of affected vehicles’ sunroofs.

Unfortunately, problematic sunroof glass panels may detach under the stresses of driving. Consequently, the NHTSA reports that the failing adhesive could cause a detachment and increase the risk of a crash. However, as of now, there are no reports of the detached panels causing wrecks, injuries, or fatalities.

The recall names sedans, coupes, and wagons from the C-Class, E-Class, CLK, and CLS lineups

The new Mercedes-Benz recall impacted cars from four of the brand’s nameplate classes from 2001 to 2011. For starters, W203 and early W204 C-Class models could be problematic. Additionally, late W210, W211, and W212 E-Class models could exhibit the sunroof issue. CLK and CLS models from the same era may have the sunroof issue.

Obviously, convertibles and models without sunroofs aren’t included in the recall notice. Owners can call Mercedes-Benz customer service to book a service appointment for the recall. Fortunately, as with other manufacturers’ recall notices, the repair is free of charge for affected vehicles.

To check your vehicle’s recall status, use the NHTSA lookup tool. The lookup tool uses your license plate number, vehicle identification number (VIN), or vehicle details to provide recall information. However, Mercedes-Benz asserts that it will mail notification letters by January 18, 2025.
