Mercedes-Maybach’s latest S-Class pays homage to a 1939 racing yacht with stunning detail and unmatched luxury.

1939 Racing Yacht Inspiration

Mercedes-Maybach has unveiled a one-off S-Class inspired by a 1939 racing yacht. This unique creation marks the 150th anniversary of Robbe & Berking, renowned for their luxury yachts and silverware. The bespoke vehicle draws design cues from the Sphinx yacht, a 21.48-meter beauty meticulously restored by Robbe & Berking.

A Striking Two-Tone Exterior

The special edition S-Class features a distinctive two-tone exterior that mimics the Sphinx yacht’s elegant color scheme. The Nautical Blue Metallic and Patagonia Red paintwork are separated by a delicate Opalite White Metallic pinstripe, evoking the yacht’s classic lines. This sophisticated combination captures the spirit of high-seas adventure and luxury, ensuring the car stands out as a symbol of exclusivity and craftsmanship.

Lavish Nautical-Inspired Interior

Stepping inside the bespoke Maybach, the nautical theme continues with an interior swathed in Manufaktur Exclusive Nappa leather in Crystal White. The leather features intricate diamond quilting and Orion Grey stitching, adding a touch of refinement. The use of walnut wood inserts, designed to resemble a ship’s deck, complete with aluminum trim strips, further enhances the maritime ambiance.

Unmatched Comfort and Entertainment

Luxury and comfort are paramount in the Maybach S680, especially in the rear quarters. Custom Nappa leather-trimmed cushions, power-operated comfort doors, and a Burmester 4D surround sound system provide an unparalleled passenger experience. Rear-seat entertainment systems allow passengers to relax in style, making every journey an indulgent experience. Additionally, the car features a cooling compartment and Robbe & Berking silver-plated champagne goblets, perfect for enjoying a glass of bubbly on the go.

Performance and Power

Under the hood, the S680 is powered by a 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 engine, producing 621 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque. This engine offers a balance of power and refinement, ensuring a smooth and quiet ride. The car’s dynamic performance is complemented by its luxurious features, making it a perfect blend of speed and serenity.

Exclusive and Already Spoken For

Mercedes-Maybach has produced just one example of this special edition S-Class, and it has already been reserved by a lucky customer. While the exact price of this bespoke vehicle hasn’t been disclosed, the standard S680 starts at $235,450, with the additional bespoke features likely pushing the price well beyond $262,300. This exclusivity ensures that the car remains a unique and coveted piece of automotive art.

Symbol of Craftsmanship

“Like the yacht Sphinx, our exclusive Mercedes-Maybach S-Class anniversary vehicle epitomizes craftsmanship, elegance, and attention to detail,” said Daniel Lescow, Head of Mercedes-Maybach. This collaboration between Mercedes-Maybach and Robbe & Berking not only celebrates a rich heritage but also sets a new standard for bespoke luxury vehicles. The fusion of nautical and automotive design elements in this unique S-Class is a fitting tribute to both brands’ legacy of excellence.
