Marcel Floruss took a Mercedes-Benz CLE Cabriolet on an unforgettable Tenerife road trip.

One Dapper Street content creator Marcel Floruss likely didn’t need too much coercing to take a new Mercedes-Benz CLE Cabriolet on a road trip. That said, he was undoubtedly on board upon learning the destination: the Spanish island of Tenerife, the largest in the country’s Canary Islands.

Now, the Mercedes-Benz CLE Cabriolet has a tall order to fill. It replaces the drop-top E-Class and C-Class models as one of the brand’s surviving convertibles for the North American market. However, even with a dwindling soft-top segment, the CLE Cabriolet has its place.

Marcel Floruss’s ride for the first of Mercedes-Benz’s new video series was a CLE 450 Cabriolet. Under the hood, a turbocharged 3.0L inline-six-cylinder mill produces 375 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. Drivers put the power down via a nine-speed automatic transmission.

Better yet, Floruss had the opportunity to test the CLE 450 Cabriolet around the twisty roads of Tenerife, covering the island from the sprawling Parque Nacional del Teide to the bustling city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. And in Tenerife, drivers will want the drop-top with the tilting, glare-reducing infotainment screen.

Only Thing Better Than a Mercedes-Benz CLE Cabriolet Is One on a Canary Island Road Trip

Tenerife: The Perfect Scene for a Sun-Soaked Mercedes-Benz CLE Cabriolet

Before Marcel Floruss took off onto the streets and avenues of Tenerife, he took stock of the finer features. For instance, Floruss noted the convertible’s air cap, the transverse roofline component that rises to send air sailing over even the tallest driver’s head. On the other side of the cabin, the Mercedes-Benz CLE 450 Cabriolet has a standard warm “air scarf” feature to warm occupants’ necks.

As Floruss drove the Cabriolet across the island’s natural beauty, he likened parts to a Martian or Lunar surface. He jested that it was appropriate, considering the CLE 450 was every bit of a “spaceship.” From coastal vistas to rocky national parks, the CLE 450 was the right cabriolet companion.
