“Hotter than Texas chili,” said a magazine advertisement for the Chevrolet Camaro. Chevy went on, “What’s so hot about Z28? Everything. Styling, performance, comfort.” The car was promoted for its “simmering shape.” Was the car as spicy as promised? Might have to buy this one and find out:

The Pick of the Day is a 1992 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 listed for sale on ClassicCars.com by a private seller in Scottsdale, Arizona. (Click the link to view the listing)

“Undoubtedly one of the finest Z28 Camaro convertibles of its era in existence,” the listing says. “This is a one-owner for 31 years, complete with original window sticker, all books, receipts, keys, and a total of 35,000 miles from new.” Inside and out, the car is dressed to impress, and it’s all done in a color that is appropriate for a performance car. The red paint, red leather upholstery, and even red-accented alloy wheels provide a consistent theme throughout the exterior.

Introduced for the 1982 model year, the third-generation Camaro and its F-body sibling, the Pontiac Firebird were designed by Jerry Palmer. He had been appointed as Chief Designer at Chevrolet in 1974. Aside from the third-gen Camaro, Jerry was also known for his work on the C4 Corvette as well as the Chevrolet Beretta. He was inducted into the Corvette Hall of Fame in 2000.

Like most sports cars, the Camaro was a popular platform for modification, which makes it that much more impressive that this car has survived the last 3+ decades without being messed with. “The car drives as you would expect of one maintained to meticulous standards, and it has never been driven in the rain or any inclement weather,” the seller says.

Along with closing out the Camaro’s third generation, model year 1992 was also significant because it was the last time the Camaro was built at General Motors’ Van Nuys, California assembly plant. Interestingly enough, the final 1992 Camaro was a red Z28 coupe. It was built on August 27, 1992, and it featured the signatures of the assembly line workers. I wonder where that car is today!

If your automotive tastebuds are asking for something hot and spicy, maybe a red Camaro convertible will satisfy the craving. “Just serviced – ready to be the centerpiece of a new owner’s garage,” the listing concludes.

The asking price is $24,500 or best offer.
