The weather in North Carolina is unseas0nably cold this year, but that won’t dampen the enthusiasm of collector car buyers gathered here at the Raleigh Classic Winter Auction. It is the final big car auction of the 2024 car show season. And the lineup of top quality cars could not be better. A select group of avid car collectors were concentrating on finding fresh vehicles for their collections as the Raleigh Classic enters its final day here. Buyers from all over the Southeastern U.S. are awaiting Prime Time Saturday. Even more are manning their phones or internet screens to focus on the bevy of important collector vehicles that will sell here today at the Capital Auto Auction facility in Youngsville, just north of Raleigh.
The selection of classic 1950’s cars is scintillating. We spotted a number of really rare choices in the preview lot. Here is a quick look at the cars and truck we were interested in as we looked through the offerings here in Youngsville for the Saturday sale. Here are some of the cars we will be watching today as they cross the auction block.
This historic two-day sale started on Friday, December 6.. As the bidding came to a close this afternoon, we were witnessing a “page turning” in automotive history.

Michael Leith, the founder of the Raleigh Classic Auctions, said the selection this weekend is one of the best they’ve had. He said there were more cars being offered at No Reserve than they have ever seen here before. The selection of vintage classics, 1950’s classics and classic muscle cars is scintillating. As always, there were be some choice muscle cars changing hands here today. This is where some of the best collectors from the Southeast come to freshen their collections. A lot of great cars are going to new homes. Sellers are also buyers as they always say here. This is one of the most interesting auctions in the country.
