The Range Rover Velar, which was introduced in 2017, may not have impressed the market much, especially compared to other Range Rover models. However, JLR isn’t giving up. The company is working on an all-new electric model to step up the game, aiming to enhance aspects like style, space, and technology.
The first-ever Range Rover Velar Electric will compete with the likes of Porsche Macan Electric and Polestar 4. Here’s what we know about the third all-electric Land Rover that follows the Range Rover BEV and Range Rover Sport BEV.
Familiar Design

Spy media from Europe suggests the Range Rover Velar Electric will have the same svelte yet simple proportions that bring a breath of fresh air to the world of SUVs without coming across as polarizing or unauthentic, say, with a partly coupe shape. Reductive yet conventional is Land Rover’s way of designing SUVs, and the Range Rover Velar Electric should stay with this template.
Gauging from recent spy photos of test prototypes, the all-electric Range Rover Velar will have a sleek body with razor-thin shut lines and flush glazing. We expect it to feature slim and wide headlights and tail lights extending well onto the sides, electronically deploying door handles, 22-inch wheels filling up the wheel arches perfectly, a low and gracefully falling roofline, a tapered D-pillar, and a sweeping boat tail.
Minimalistic Interior
Inside, expect a familiar minimalistic theme with a tall yet elegantly designed dashboard with neatly integrated air vents, a customizable virtual instrument cluster, and a floating touchscreen infotainment system.
Physical controls like buttons, knobs, and switches should be restricted to the bare minimum and the gear selector might be integrated into a steering stalk to free up space in the center console. Generously used soft-touch materials, softly lit ambient lighting, flat floor, and wide multifunction seats with massage and climate functions should give the occupants an experience similar to a modern living space.
Battery & Charging
The Range Rover Velar Electric is expected to be the first Land Rover to use the Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA), a dedicated EV platform developed for mid-size SUVs. It will have a module-less battery pack that is more cost-effective and lower in weight than a typical battery pack.
The new electric SUV will be able to take advantage of 800-volt ultra-fast chargers, allowing customers to charge its battery pack from 10 to 80% as quickly as around 20 minutes.

Range & Features
There’s no word on how far or how quickly the Range Rover Velar Electric will drive, but it’s safe to assume that it would easily deliver an EPA-estimated range of over 300 miles, and zip from 0 to 60 mph in less than four seconds in higher configurations. Level 2+ autonomous functions would allow drivers to cruise hands-free on compatible highways.
Release Date & Price
JLR will manufacture the Range Rover Velar Electric at its Halewood plant in the UK and, according to an Autocar report, unveil the vehicle in early 2026. Expect the company to start selling it in the U.S. in the middle of the same year, with prices starting at around USD 75,000.
