Mercedes is lending Mercedes a helping hand and offering Mercedes models access to Supercharge stations in the US from February 2025 and Canada during 2025.

In 2024, sales of electrified Mercedes models (electric and PHEV) accounted for only 18.5% of the brand’s global sales. Mercedes sold 367,600 electrified models out of a total of 1,983,400 units sold.

According to the strategy unveiled in October 2020, Mercedes had planned for this percentage to reach 50% by 2025, which is far from the proposed target. This is why, in February 2024, the German premium brand postponed this target to 2030.

However, in parallel with the development of new electric models, Mercedes also wants to expand the network of charging stations integrated into the Mercedes me Charge system.

In the US and Canada, Mercedes has signed an agreement with Tesla to give the brand’s customers access to more than 20,000 Tesla Supercharge stations in the US and Canada via the Mercedes me Charge app, including the Plug & Charge function.

This feature will be available to Mercedes customers from February 2025 in the US and during 2025 in Canada.

Because current Mercedes models have a different charging port than Tesla’s, Mercedes dealers will offer a NACS to CCS1 adapter for sale. This adapter is the only one tested and certified for safety and compatibility with all Mercedes-Benz BEVs and any NACS DC fast charging point.
Also, starting 2025, all-electric electric models sold in the US will have an integrated NACS port, so they can connect to Supercharge stations without an adapter.

By offering access to more than 20,000 Tesla Supercharge stations, the Mercedes me Charge network will expand substantially. Mercedes is working on own network of high-capacity (400 kW) charging stations following a program started in November 2023 with an initial value of $1 billion. Texas, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Kentucky are already operating the new 400 kW stations and by 2026 the network will extend to nearly half of the 50 US states.

In addition, Mercedes is one of seven automakers participating in the IONNA joint venture to build 30,000 stations in North America starting in 2025.

Also in July 2024, Mercedes partnered with Starbucks to build 100 400 kW high-power charging stations at Starbucks locations across the US. In the first phase, high-power charging stations are being built on the 1,400-mile-long Interstate 5 highway that stretches along the West Coast and connects Canada to Mexico.
