This year’s SEMA Show brings a unique vision to life with a wild, Mach 5-inspired take on the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren.
SEMA Debut of a Striking Custom SLR McLaren
The 2024 SEMA Show is witnessing the latest creation by John Sarkisyan of S Klub, a custom tuner known for transforming classic luxury models into audacious, one-of-a-kind builds. Sarkisyan’s Là SLR, based on a 2006 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, pushes design boundaries with an unconventional approach that rivals even the boldest modifications seen at SEMA. This isn’t the first time Sarkisyan has brought his talents to SEMA; his reputation has been building over years of showcasing creatively modified Mercedes, Ferrari, and Porsche models.
A Bold 30-Piece Bodykit and Widened Stance
The Là SLR features a custom-built 30-piece body kit that dramatically alters the SLR McLaren’s profile. With its flared front and rear wheel arches, the bodykit extends the car’s width by a full 10 inches, giving it a fierce, imposing stance. Shiny HRE S107 wheels wrapped in Toyo Proxes Sport tires add both style and performance, enhancing the car’s wide, low-slung presence. The widebody modification allows for larger rear tires, further elevating its high-performance aesthetic.
Inspired by Mach 5 with an Aggressive Speedster Conversion
Drawing influence from the fictional Mach 5, the Là SLR captures a retro-futuristic appeal with features like a chopped-off roof, creating a pseudo-speedster vibe. Retaining the signature butterfly doors, Sarkisyan integrates a Formula 1-style halo that arcs over the cockpit, while dual bubble wind deflectors sit in front of the driver and passenger. This unique configuration is reminiscent of the ultra-rare SLR Stirling Moss speedster but takes it to a new level with even more pronounced modifications.
Extreme Rear Components and Audacious Styling Choices
Adding to the Là SLR’s standout design are bold rear elements, including an oversized wing that seems pulled from a 2000s racing video game, and a massive diffuser that accentuates its street-racing flair. While the oversized aero components may seem extreme, they fit within Sarkisyan’s vision of the Là SLR as a blend of performance and showmanship. The rear modifications might seem over-the-top to some, but they undeniably contribute to the car’s unapologetic and unique look.
A Red and Carbon Fiber-Finished Interior
The Là SLR’s interior sports an intense red Alcantara treatment that spans across the steering wheel, dashboard, door panels, and seats, giving the cabin an eye-catching, cohesive look. Original silver air vents remain, maintaining a nod to the SLR’s origins, while carbon fiber accents on the steering wheel lend a race-inspired aesthetic. The custom interior, though not fully detailed, maintains a sense of luxury within the highly modified, flamboyant bodywork.
Sarkisyan’s Signature Artistry on Display
Là SLR reflects Sarkisyan’s creative flair, adding to his collection of innovative works on classic luxury cars. Known for creations like the 300SL speedster and a unique Porsche 550 speedster, Sarkisyan continues to push the envelope in the world of high-end car modification. His latest showstopper can be found in Toyo Tires’ Treadpass area at the SEMA Show, where it’s on display until November 8, 2024, for car enthusiasts to experience firsthand.
