When the weather starts to improve, and it’s time to take your Mercedes out of the garage and take it for a spin, a question may arise: where should I go?

At the end of the day, a Mercedes is a Mercedes no matter where you drive it. But there’s something about driving down crowded city streets that doesn’t quite capture the grandeur that your Mercedes has to offer.

If you’re looking for unforgettable Mercedes-Benz journeys, keep reading. Below we’ve put together a guide to some of the best Mercedes road trip ideas so you can get the most out of your car.

California

Take a trip up (or down) California’s famous Pacific Coast Highway, also known as Highway One, to take in the scenic views of the west coast. This drive offers the perfect balance of calm and excitement, with diverse scenery and occasional stops near bigger cities where you can catch a nice dinner and rest.

There are several well-known stops along the way, such as Ragged Point with its so-called “Million Dollar View,” or you can stop and hike the many trails of Estero Bluffs State Park. If you’re a fan of wildlife, you can also pull over at Elephant Seal Vista Point and watch the seals playing on the beach only a few miles away from the historic Hearst Castle.

New England

The other American coast, while very different, is just as beautiful, offering views of a very different kind and even some important and interesting historical spots. It’s an especially great place for seafood like clam chowder and lobster rolls.

A stop by Boston can allow you to see some famous landmarks from America’s founding before heading north. There are many options on where to go from there, like Salem or Cape Cod, but Woodstock is an exceptionally luxurious option. If you’re willing to splurge, you can even stay at the Woodstock Inn and Resort, known as “Vermont’s most beautiful address.”

Finish off in Bar Harbor, Maine, and take some time to hike at Acadia National Park nearby to enjoy the best outdoor views that the northeast has to offer.

American Southwest

Once considered the frontier, the American Southwest still carries a bit of the free spirit and wildness that made it so enticing 200 years ago. Perfect for long drives in a comfortable (air-conditioned!) car, the vistas and buttes will entrance you.

Some of the best stops include the Grand Canyon and the red rocks of Sedona at Coconino National Forest. If you’re looking to mix in some city sights in addition to the natural beauties on the way, spend an evening in Las Vegas or Santa Fe, one of the US’s oldest cities.
