I bought a 2024 Ford Ranger Lariat for one of our next long-term review trucks to see how much we like or hate it after a few years.

Why a 2024 Ford Ranger Lariat

First and foremost, I still have a 2025 Ram 1500 RHO on order as you might recall if you follow this outlet closely.

Second, I decided to have my wife drive a midsize truck while I drive a full-size truck to broaden the outlet’s appeal.

Third, the new Ford Ranger has outperformed videos and articles about the 2024 Toyota Tacoma, the Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon. I opted not to buy a Jeep Gladiator, Nissan Frontier or a Honda Ridgeline since none of those trucks hasn’t had many updates over the last few years.

Now I did want to buy an XLT, however, there is a nationwide stop sale on that trim due to a safety issue. I didn’t want to buy an XL nor did I want to buy a Ranger Raptor. I really wanted to stay with a trim level people would mostly be shopping for when looking for a new Ranger.

Engine, price and color for the 2024 Ford Ranger Lariat

Our 2024 Ranger has the 2.3-liter inline 4-cylinder twin-turbo EcoBoost engine under the hood. This engine produces 310 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. There is a 2.7-liter V6 twin-turbo EcoBoost engine as well that produces 325 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. That engine wasn’t available in the trucks my wife and I were looking at in the color she liked. Also, that’s not much improvement in power delivery considering both engines hit the peak output at 3,000 RPMs and it is only 50 pound-feet more of torque and 15 horsepower more.

The Ranger is in Velocity Blue Metallic exterior color and has the 500A equipment group.

It does come with the all-weather floor mats, the advanced towing package, integrated box side step, spray-in bed liner and a vehicle safe-center console

Our sticker priced out at $51,370 and with our trade in plus some discounts we were out the door for roughly $55,000. We purchased this truck from Ken Graff Ford in Cheyenne and they took really good care of us.
