RENNtech’s Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series R3 performance package cranks it up to four-digit horsepower figures.
If it wears a Mercedes-Benz star, RENNtech likes to mess with it. From superpowered sleeper sedans to SEMA-winning vans, RENNtech likes to play with Mercedes underpinnings. That much is obvious with one look at the company’s Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series demo car with the brand’s R3 performance package.
The highlights? RENNtech’s R3 performance package adds a turbocharger upgrade. Buyers can expect larger inducer wheels, a larger cartridge shaft, and machined housings for less resistance and less lag. In addition to the turbocharger upgrade, the R3 includes an ECU upgrade, stainless steel downpipes, a performance clutch, a transmission control unit (TCU) upgrade, BMC air filters, and the brand’s blow-off valve adapter.
As a result, RENNtech says an R3-equipped AMG GT Black Series will produce up to 1,066 asphalt-cracking horsepower and 831 lb-ft of torque. The demo car also features 19×10 and 20×12 inch RENNtech Track Series forged wheels as well as a halfcage and carbon fiber components.
Inspired by F1W14 & older Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Race Cars
Of course, to make your AMG GT Black Series pop like the RENNtech R3 demo car in the video below, you’ll need to make some tweaks. Most notably, the AMG GT model features a livery reminiscent of recent Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS race cars like the F1W14.
The car, true to its Black Series moniker, is a high-shine black. Light blue-green scallops call to mind the accents on the Formula 1 racing vehicles. Moreover, the prominent rear wing boasts an outline of that same blue-green, as do the wing mirrors and fender vents. Finally, fans would be remiss not to notice the smattering of three-pointed stars behind the doors.
Aesthetic treatments aside, the package retails for $40,980 before tax. Check out the video of the R3 demo car showing off its upgrades and aesthetic below!
