Top Car Show in the USA
The Best of Show winners for the Amelia Island Concours have been announced. This year’s Best of Show Concours d’Elegance award winner was a 1947 Delahaye 135MS Narval Cabriolet, owned by Dana and Patti Mecum of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. The Best of Show Concours de Sport is a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO owned by David MacNeil of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The coveted Best of Show Concours d’Elegance and the Concours De Sport are two of the highest honors that an owner can achieve in the collector car world. The winners were announced here at the Golf Club of Amelia Island where the concours is held.
Rain was in the offing all day, and finally deluged onto the field for two hours at midday on Sunday, threatening the activities on the showfield. Although the beautiful motorcars and sports cars remained covered for the awards ceremony, the two Best of Show winners were allowed to drive onto the showfield to accept their awards.
Cars-On-Line.com readers know that one of the top car shows in the U.S. is the Amelia Island Concours, which happens every year in early March. Our Cars-On-Line car show team was on Amelia Island, along the northeastern coast of Florida, this weekend to cover the event. They were on hand on Sunday to record the Best of Show winners for this year. They captured photos and video for our readers to enjoy at this historic event.
The 29th Annual Amelia Concours d’Elegance was held on Sunday, March 3, at the Golf Club of Amelia Island. Here, more than 275 historically significant vehicles were on hand to compete for various awards – 35 class awards and numerous special awards. Many high dollar auctions and special events lead up to the big day on Sunday. Here is where you can get a taste of some of the activities surrounding the Amelia.
On Friday, auction goers were stunned when a 1903 Mercedes-Simplex motorcar sold for $11 million. The sale was the highest sale of the weekend here at the Amelia. The Mercedes-Simplex is considered one of the benchmark cars in automotive history. It marks the point at which the “horseless carriage” became a motorcar. All motorcars that followed were patterned after the design of the Mercedes-Simplex. They believe this is one of only five such cars to exist.
Our photo-journalist Bob Boberg of eClassicAutos.com captured the essence of the “Amelia experience” in an auction video. Watch as some of the world’s most prestigious cars are up for sale, and see some of the most spectacular sales in this video (click the video window below.)

The Broad Arrow Auction at Amelia for 2024 was the second annual auction for the newly created auction company during the Amelia Island Concours weekend. Several years ago the promotion for the Amelia Island Concours was taken over by Hagerty Insurance, the company that provides insurance coverage for collector cars. Since then the Amelia has grown into a concourse to rival the famous Pebble Beach Concours as one of the top car shows in the country.
