Another Facelift for the GLE?

Spy photographers recently spied the Mercedes-AMG GLE donning a camouflage. Considering that the luxury SUV just underwent a facelift this year, it’s unclear if its maker is looking to introduce further updates in the auto’s design or if we’re seeing a test mule for a next-generation model.

The latest spy shots from Carbuzz show a zebra-patterned camouflage covering the GLE’s fascia. The concealed parts include the front grille, bumper, and air intakes. The headlamps are peeking from the wraps, though.

Normally, the camouflaged areas suggest some changes are coming their way if Mercedes is indeed aiming for the vehicle’s next facelift.

Interior Design and Tech Upgrades Coming Up

Interestingly, Mercedes also draped a dark piece of fabric to hide some portions of the spied GLE interior. This could mean that the automaker may finally introduce slight upgrades to the SUV’s interior after it was kept unchanged in the 2024 facelift.

While it may be too soon for the GLE to get another facelift, the spy shots here certainly cast some doubt on this assumption. Meanwhile, the source puts forth an interesting theory that could support this argument.

According to the car news portal, Mercedes may be gunning for another GLE facelift to extend the lifecycle of its current model. This would give the company extra time to assess the direction of the range in the next few years.

Mercedes to Get Back to Its V8 Roots

There have been reports that Mercedes is mulling about the prospect of bringing back the V8 in some of its models. Among the likely candidates for the engine upscaling is the high-performance AMG CLE 63.

With this in mind, the GLE SUV may also benefit from the same upgrade in its AMG variants. This is highly plausible with the AMG 63 version.
