Automobilia Collectibles: Real vs. Reproduction Tireside Chat With Mike McCandless

Savoy Automobile Museum

CARTERSVILLE, GA – Savoy Automobile Museum announced its next Tireside Chat, scheduled for Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 7:00 pm. As the market of collectible automotive advertising continues to explode, so does the rate of counterfeit pieces. Separating real from reproduction, and knowing the difference is a lesson worth learning. In 2021, Jordan Richmond and Mike McCandless founded Richmond Auctions, the premier destination for investment quality collectibles. A year later, they set a staggering world record by selling a Musgo Gasoline porcelain sign for over $1.5 million dollars! Join Mike McCandless as he provides tips and information on how to avoid being scammed while sharing examples and lessons learned from curating his own collection.

Mike is also the founder of the McCandless Collection in Burlington, North Carolina. The McCandless Collection was founded in honor of Mike’s father, Herb McCandless, also known as “Mr. 4 Speed.” Herb blazed a trail across the country racing his HEMI-Powered machines in the 1960s before being hired by the legendary Sox & Martin racing team in 1970. The McCandless family’s passion for racing was passed down through the generations, and now numerous classic cars, as well as many other examples of vintage automotive memorabilia are on display at their museum. The McCandless Collection is also the culmination of Mike’s passion for all things MoPar and his love of Chrysler’s 1955-1961 “Forward Look” era. The vision of the McCandless Collection is to properly preserve, restore, and share the history associated with these rare artifacts.

The program is complimentary for members and included with admission to the museum for the general public. The Savoy Café will remain open for dinner before the start of the program; the Café will close at 7:00 pm. Savoy Museum will be open until 9:00 pm on Saturday, May 18, 2024. The museum is located at 3 Savoy Lane in Cartersville, GA.
